Paul’s Express, LLC Case Settles for $89,700
Paul’s Express, LLC will pay $89,700.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $67,275.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $22,425.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in December, 2016.
An investigation conducted by the Air Resources Board (ARB) determined that Paul’s Express failed to bring eleven (11) of their heavy duty diesel trucks into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards, and failed to perform annual opacity tests for twelve (12) vehicles for the years 2014 and 2015. ARB documented violations as they related to the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation, the Emission Control Label requirements of the Heavy-Duty Vehicle Emissions Control System Inspections regulation, and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program. To settle the case, Paul’s Express agreed to the $89,700.00 penalty and to comply with TB, PSIP and other ARB programs.
