PACCAR Inc. Settles For $2,539,200
In July 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with PACCAR, Inc. (PACCAR), with its principal location in Bellevue, Washington, in the amount of $2,539,200 for violating CARB’s air quality regulations.
PACCAR voluntarily disclosed issues relating to On-board Diagnostic (OBD) systems.CARB reviewed the self-disclosures and an investigation revealed that PACCAR had 16,928 engines between model years 2013 and 2021 that were in violation of the Heavy-Duty OBD Regulations as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 1971.1 et seq.
Of the total settlement amount, $1,786,112.50 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. The remaining amount of $753,087.50 will fund four Supplemental Environment Projects that will provide clean air benefits to California residents.
