California Air Resources Board

CARB staff inspects a wide variety of diesel vehicles and equipment in the field for compliance with regulatory requirements.  Depending on the program, non-compliant vehicles and equipment may be issued a citation, a Notice of Violation, and/or may be identified for a comprehensive fleet-wide audit.

CARB enforcement staff also conduct investigations of diesel vehicles and equipment utilizing a variety of methods including tips, leads, complaints, and data analysis techniques.  These investigations ensure that vehicles and equipment are compliant with regulations and provide a level playing field for all companies operating in California.  A Notice of Violation will be issued and penalties assessed if violations are determined.
