Introduction and Overview
The primary goal of the Clean Fleet Connect tool is to recognize fleets using medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) in California. It is intended to highlight ZEV fleets, create connections for environmentally conscious businesses, and support the state’s broader clean-air and public-health goals. The new tool would publicly recognize fleets that voluntarily choose to align with the state’s zero-emission goals and would not establish new regulatory requirements.
Background
The development of Clean Fleet Connect reflects the State of California’s reaffirmed commitment to accelerating the deployment of zero-emission technologies in the medium- and heavy-duty vehicle sector. It implements Executive Order N-27-25, issued at Governor Gavin Newsom’s direction, which directs the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to maintain public lists of fleets that voluntarily continue to comply with the Advanced Clean Fleets and Zero-Emission Airport Shuttle regulations, among other mandates. The data compiled through Clean Fleet Connect will likewise reinforce the California “ZEV-first” approach to public procurement, consistent with CARB’s report to the Governor on the implementation of Executive Order N-27-25 and the broader statewide zero-emission vehicle deployment strategy.
