Otay Mesa Sales, Inc Case Settles for $4,000
Otay Mesa Sales, Incorporated paid $4,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,000.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,000.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in November 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Otay Mesa Sales, Incorporated failed to notify ARB within 30 days of adding/selling seven of their off-road equipment and failed to comply with the reporting requirements of the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to the TB Regulation and the Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Fleets Regulation. To settle the case, Otay Mesa Sales, Incorporated agreed to the $4,000.00 penalty and to comply with TB Regulation, Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Fleets Regulation and other ARB programs.
