Orient Overseas Container Line Limited Case Settles for $7,500
Orient Overseas Container Line Limited paid $7,500.00 in penalties to the California Air Resources Board, for violating air quality regulations. This settlement was reached on October 2, 2017. An investigation by the ARB showed that the Orient Overseas Container Line Limited vessel OOCL Luxembourg, failed to switch over to compliant distillate fuel, the fuel analyzed for sulfur content came back higher in sulfur than the regulated limit. Orient Overseas Container Line Limited took prompt action after being notified of this violation and under ARB’s supervision began operating in a compliant fashion.To settle the case, Orient Overseas Container Line Limited agreed to the $7,500.00 penalty and to comply with ARB regulations.
