OREC America, Inc. Case Settles for $500
In May 2019, OREC America, Inc. (OREC) of Wixom, Michigan, settled its case with the California Air Resources Board. The case involved Small Off-Road Engines installed onto OREC’s Brush Riding Mowers. Upon further investigation, the units in question did not qualify as preempt equipment and were required to obtain certification under both evaporative and exhaust emission standards. This was in violation of Title 13 of the California Code of Regulations Section § 2400(a) and Section § 2751(a). OREC has agreed to pay a $250.00 per unit penalty resulting in a total penalty amount of $500.00. OREC is in the process of obtaining certification and is now in compliance with the California regulation.
