Nunez Trucking Case Settles for $12,250
In February 2019, a settlement was reached with Nunez Trucking. Nunez Trucking agreed to pay $12,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations, all of which will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. An investigation by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) showed that Nunez Trucking failed to bring five of their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. CARB documented violations as they related to the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). In addition to the penalty, Nunez Trucking agreed to comply with TRU, PSIP, and other CARB programs.
