Research Summary:
This project will contribute to the growing community engaged research movement by providing CARB’s Sustainable Transportation and Communities Division (STCD) with guidance on the appropriate tools, methodology, and engagement methods to meaningfully engage low-income communities of color and identify specific community-identified research topics and priorities that can better address diverse resident concerns and needs in research planning; and identify specific community-identified research topics and priorities that can better address diverse resident concerns and needs. The Contractor, its community partner, Just Cities, and a Community Engagement Research Advisory Committee (CERAC) will co- develop and implement a research community engagement plan to foster relationship-building with local communities and inform the Contractor’s findings. This project will inform how the Sustainable Transportation and Communities Division at CARB conceptualizes, defines, and solicits future research studies to support policy and programmatic efforts at the nexus of equitable land use planning, housing, transportation, and climate policy that can result in actionable change benefitting impacted communities.
