EL MONTE – The California Environmental Protection Agency�s Air Resources Board (ARB) will hold a public workshop Wednesday to discuss issues related to the zero-emission vehicle mandate. The Board reaffirmed the mandate at a September 8 meeting in Sacramento.

The ARB's ZEV program, adopted in 1990, mandates that 10 percent of new automobiles sold in California starting in 2003 must be zero emitting.
CARB's mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering effects on the economy. The CARB oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health based air quality standards.
