SACRAMENTO – The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will conduct a workshop to discuss a draft proposal on the limit of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for use in on-road motor vehicles on November 10, 1998 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  The workshop will be held at:

         On-road LPG vehicles use less than 10 percent of propane marketed in California and have a relatively small emissions impact for the on-road vehicle inventory.   Because the number of on-road LPG vehicles is so small, manufacturers will not be greatly affected by the loss of the market for the fuel, and therefore are not willing to aggressively invest in LPG reformulation to comply with 1992 LPG regulations.

        The workshop will discuss alternative specifications to LPG regulation which will be effective January 1, 1999.  LPG regulations were delayed due to unreliable fuel sources that can comply with the regulations set in 1992.  Unless alternative specifications are proposed, the 1992 LPG regulations will continue to be in effect.
