SACRAMENTO – The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will hold a public workshop Tuesday to discuss a greenhouse gas emission inventory for 2000 and future model year light-duty vehicles. In accordance with AB 1493, the ARB must adopt rules to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from California's light-duty auto fleet.
Tuesday, December 3, 2002
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Cal/EPA Headquarters
Coastal Hearing Room

AB 1493 (Pavley) requires the ARB to adopt by, January 1, 2005, regulations that achieve the maximum feasible and cost-effective reductions of greenhouse gases from light-duty vehicles, starting with the 2009 model year. The ARB will consider the proposed regulations in the fall of 2004.
An emission inventory of light-duty vehicles is needed for the implementation of AB 1493 and will be used for the calculation of manufacturers' baselines, early compliance credits and the analysis of alternative strategies.
