SACRAMENTO – The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will hold its regular Board meeting at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 1998, to consider approval of a revision to the State Implementation Plan (SIP) at the following location:
South Coast Air Quality Management District
21865 East Copley Drive
Diamond Bar, California
At this meeting, the ARB will consider a revision to the SIP that furthers heavy-duty vehicle emission-reduction efforts. Options under ARB exploration include increased in-use compliance programs and market-based incentives for heavy-duty vehicles.
The Board will also consider approval of the 1998 regulatory rulemaking calendar which includes information relating to the 1994 ozone SIP. An informational review of air quality trends and an overview of the ARB's Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs, including a recap of 1997 legislation, will also be presented.
Additionally, the ARB will make a video tape presentation of its new "End Smog" public service announcement featuring Ed Begley, Jr.
Following the Board meeting, a stakeholders forum will be held to discuss future California air quality management objectives. A panel of air quality experts -- from government to the environmental and business sectors -- will share their perspectives. An agenda is attached.
