Naval Air Station Lemoore Settles For $85,000
In August 2026, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Naval Air Station Lemoore (NAS Lemoore), with its principal location in Lemoore, California, for the installation’s violation of the Regulation for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Gas-Insulated Equipment (SF6 GIE Regulation or SF6 Regulation), as codified in the California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 95350-95359.1.
An investigation conducted by CARB Enforcement Division staff showed that NAS Lemoore failed to stay within the annual emissions rate and failed to submit an accurate annual report by the due date as set forth in the SF6 Regulation. To settle the case, NAS Lemoore agreed to the penalty of $1,500 per MTCO2e emissions and $1,000 per day of inaccurate reporting, for a total settlement amount of $85,000.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement for NAS Lemoore to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward. NAS Lemoore worked cooperatively with CARB staff to quickly resolve this matter and implemented additional measures to reduce the potential of any future violations.
