Multimodal Esquer Inc. Case Settles for $20,000
In September 2015, Multimodal Esquer Inc. agreed to pay a penalty of $20,000.00 for violating air quality regulations: $15,000.00 will be paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $5,000.00 will be paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
A routine investigation by the Enforcement Division documented that Multimodal Esquer Inc. had failed to conduct smoke tests as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program, and failed to pay outstanding citations for Emission Control Label (ECL) and Drayage Truck Regulation (DTR) violations. To resolve its violations, Multimodal Esquer Inc. has agreed to pay $20,000.00 in penalties: $15,000.00 will be paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; and $5,000.00 will be paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
Multimodal Esquer Inc. is a freight hauling company based out of San Diego, California. Multimodal Esquer Inc. does not have a history of past violations and had failed to conduct smoke tests in order to comply with PSIP requirements.
