Martinez Transport, Inc. Case Settles for $20,750
In February 2014, Martinez Transport, Inc. agreed to pay $20,750.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $15,563.00 to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $5,187.00 for the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Martinez Transport, Inc. failed to bring two of their vehicles into compliance with applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Statewide Truck and Bus regulation. To settle the case, Martinez Transport, Inc. agreed to the $20,750.00 penalty and to comply with all applicable ARB regulations.
