Maly's Office Conference Results in $3,000 Settlement

Staff held a teleconference on March 20, 2003, with representatives of Maly's to discuss and settle a Report of Violation. Maly's is a distributor of various haircare products and also operates their own beauty product supply stores. Maly's shared some of the responsibility for distributing and selling several hairspray products in California that did not comply with the 55 percent volatile organic compound limit. A tentative agreement was reached to settle the violation in lieu of litigation for a cash payment of $3,000. Maly's has also agreed to take additional steps to verify that all of the products they carry meet the regulations.
