Assembly Bill 179 (Cervantes, Chapter 737, Statutes 2017) directs the California Air Resources Board (CARB or Board) and California Transportation Commission (CTC or Commission) to meet at least twice a year to coordinate implementation of transportation programs and policies. The purpose of the third joint meeting is to discuss innovative mobility.
Introduction and Overview
Updates Since the December Joint Meeting
CARB and CTC will hear an update on relevant Board and Commission actions that have taken place since the December Joint Meeting.
The following agenda items may be heard in a different order at the Board meeting.
Presentation of "Automated Vehicle Principles for Health and Sustainable Communities"
CARB and CTC will hear a presentation on the Automated Vehicle Principles for Healthy and Sustainable Communities created by the California Multi-Agency Workgroup on Automated Vehicles.
Presentation and Panel: Innovative Mobility
CARB and CTC will hear a brief presentation about the series of four roundtable discussions hosted by the University of California at Davis Institute of Transportation Studies across the State in February and March 2019. These roundtables engaged leaders from the public and private sectors in discussions about the challenges, opportunities, and needs related to the rise in new transportation technologies, services, and innovations in California.
A panel discussion will follow the presentation. Panelists will respond to questions and ideas raised in the presentation and will offer other thoughts about the role of government (at all levels) in innovative mobility.
There will be a Comment Period to allow interested members of the public to address CARB and CTC members.
CARB and CTC Discussion
CARB Board Members and CTC Commissioners will discuss the automated vehicle principles, innovative mobility, key items raised by the panel and by the public, and topics of focus for future joint meetings.
