Lopez Trucking Settles For $5,000
In March 2025, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Lopez Trucking with its principal location in Bakersfield, California, for the company’s violation of the Heavy-Duty Diesel Smoke Emission Testing, and Heavy-Duty Vehicle Emission Control Inspections Regulation (HDVIP Regulation) under California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2180-2189; and the Add-On Parts and Modified Parts Regulation (Aftermarket Parts Regulation), under California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2220-2225.
In an investigation conducted by CARB staff, it was documented that Lopez Trucking tampered with the engine aftertreatment system in one truck, resulting in the violation. To settle the case, Lopez Trucking agreed to suspended penalties of $5,000 and agreed to return the tampered truck to its original configuration.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement for Lopez Trucking to provide proof of passing a Clean Truck Check Test and a Clean Truck Check referee inspection.
