Livyes Inc. Settles For $3,000
In February 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Livyes Inc. (Livyes) of Reading, Massachusetts, reached a settlement agreement in the amount $3,000 for Livyes’ violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
An investigation by CARB staff revealed that Livyes sold, supplied, and offered for sale in California, air freshener products that were not compliant with the Consumer Products Regulations. The Areon Home and Car Fragrances products contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standards specified in the California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94509(a). The violation resulted in 0.006 tons of excess VOC emissions in the “Air Freshener (liquid/spray)” category.
Livyes fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. Livyes worked with the manufacturer to reformulate the Areon Home and Car Fragrance products to be in compliance with the California's Consumer Products Regulations. The $3,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
