Las Vegas / L.A. Express Inc. Case Settles for $6,300.00
In May 2013, Las Vegas / L.A. Express Inc. agreed to pay $6,300.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $4,725.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,575.00 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Las Vegas / L.A. Express Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), and to include the Disclosure of Regulation on all bills of sale, sales contract addendums, or invoices as required by the Statewide Truck and Bus Regulation. To settle the case, Las Vegas / L.A. Express Inc. agreed to the $6,300.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, the Statewide Truck and Bus Regulation, and other ARB programs.
