Air monitors deployed in Altadena for the 2025 Eaton Fire

Air Quality After the LA Fires

California is coordinating a comprehensive response to help those impacted by the wildfires in Southern California. Extensive air monitoring efforts are underway across Los Angeles County to ensure residents have the information they need to protect themselves during the recovery process. CARB is working closely with local, state and federal partners on air monitoring, research and public health guidance. The information provided below is meant to help Californians make informed decisions as recovery efforts continue and communities rebuild.

Air Monitoring

CARB is supporting the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) with air monitoring during the wildfire recovery process in the Los Angeles area. By moving quickly to remove ash and debris from impacted properties and ensuring its safe disposal, local, state and federal authorities are working to minimize air quality impacts. At the same time, a robust network of air monitors and sensors is collecting data on air pollution to inform public health guidance.
