Komatsu Forklift U.S.A., LLC Settles For $18,500
In September 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Komatsu Forklift U.S.A. LLC (Komatsu), based in Stone Mountain, Georgia, for Komatsu’s violation of CARB’s off-road large spark ignition engines regulation (LSI Regulation) (Cal. Code Regs., tit.13, §§ 2430 et seq.).
In July of 2021, Komatsu sent a self-disclosure letter indicating it had sold into California new dual-fuel off-road LSI forklifts that had not been CARB certified. Komatsu took immediate steps to remove the forklifts from California and replace them with engines that met CARB’s certification requirements.
The full penalty amount of $18,500, will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Komatsu diligently cooperated with CARB throughout the investigation and further understands the importance of ensuring engines are certified to CARB’s requirements.
