Keith Day Company, Inc. Settles For $500
Keith Day Company, Inc., located in Salinas, California,will pay $500 in penalties for violating California Air Resources Board (CARB) air quality regulations. The full settlement amount of $500 will go to CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. This settlement was reached in May, 2021.
An investigation by CARB showed that Keith Day Company, Inc. failed to meet the applicable smoke testing requirements for one heavy-duty diesel vehicle in their fleet for one year. CARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13 § 2190 et seq.). To settle the case, Keith Day Company Inc. agreed to the penalty of $500 per violation for a total of $500.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement that Keith Day Company, Inc. attend a smoke-test training course, submit PSIP tests for the entire applicable fleet for calendar years 2021 and 2022, and comply with PSIP and other CARB regulations going forward.
