JW Freight Services, LLC Case Settlement
JW Freight Services, LLC Case Settles for $11,400
JW Freight Services, LLC will pay $11,400.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $8,550.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,850.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program. This settlement was reached in January, 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that JW Freight Services, LLC failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards, failed to include the disclosure of regulation applicability on the bill of sales, failed to register their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) in ARB’s equipment registration system, and failed to clear delinquent citations. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure, and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, JW Freight Services agreed to the $11,400.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TRU, TB, and other ARB programs.
