JIB United Transport Case Settles for $24,410
JIB United Transport will pay $24,410.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $18,306.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $6,104.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in January, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that JIB United Transport failed to bring 10 of their diesel trucks into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect 11 of their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, JIB United Transport agreed to the $24,410.00 penalty and to comply with TB, PSIP and other ARB programs.
