The Island Packers Corporation Settles Commercial Harbor Craft Violation for $7,150.00
In January 2020, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Island Packers Corporation (Island Packers)of Ventura, California. Island Packers paid $7,150.00 in penalties to CARB for violating the Commercial Harbor Craft Regulation (CHC Regulation). The violation was discovered during a routine inspection by CARB staff. An investigation by CARB showed that Island Packers failed to meet the in-use standards on two engines as prescribed in the CHC Regulation. CARB alleged that the two propulsion engines on the ship Vanguard were in violation of the in-use portion of the CHC Regulation.
Island Packers took immediate action after being notified of these violations and promptly replaced the engines. To settle the case, Island Packers agreed to the $7,150.00 penalty and to comply with CARB regulations.
