Hornby America Inc. Settles For $3,000
In January 2025, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Hornby America Inc. (Hornby), with its principal location in Lakewood, Washington, for the company’s violation of the Regulation for Reducing the Ozone Formed from Aerosol Coating Product Emissions (Aerosol Coating Products Regulation), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94520-94528.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed that Hornby failed to meet the labeling requirements under California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94524(b)(1).
Hornby fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. Terms of the settlement include a requirement for Hornby to increase scrutiny of the compliance of their products, and to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward. The total penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
