Hornady Manufacturing Company Case Settles for $4,000

Between January 2012 and March 2013, Hornady Manufacturing Company manufactured for sale in California cans of Hornady One Shot Gun and Tool Cleaner, Hornady One Shot Case Lube, and Hornady One Shot HD-Extreme Cleaner and Lube products that were in violation the 30% VOC limit for Metal Polish or Cleaners. The label on the products made representations for use that put them in the Metal Polish or Cleaner category. Sales of the products were small and the company revised the label to indicate that the product is solely to be used as a firearm lubricant. Approximately 3.4 pounds of excess emissions resulted from the violation. The case was settled on July 29, 2014 for $4,000.
