Green Planet 21, Inc., dba The Sutta Company, Settles For $7,000
In July 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Green Planet 21, Inc., dba The Sutta Company (Green Planet 21, Inc.) of Oakland, California, in the amount of $7,000 for violation of CARB’s air quality regulations. The penalties will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
CARB staff discovered during an area focused investigation into the City of Oakland, that Green Planet 21, Inc. failed to meet the applicable smoke testing requirements for the heavy-duty diesel vehicles in their fleet. CARB documented violations of the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13 § 2190 et seq.). To settle the case, Green Planet 21, Inc. agreed to the penalty of $500 per PSIP violation for a total of $7,000.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement for Green Planet 21, Inc. to attend a smoke-test training course, submit PSIP tests for the entire applicable fleet for calendar years 2021 and 2022, and to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward.
