$5,500 in Fines Paid by Garland Beauty Supply

On May 24, 2005, samples of La Charme Extra Holding Hair & Wig Spray were obtained from Sunrise Beauty Supply in Palm Desert, California. The hairspray did not comply with the 55 percent VOC limit for hairspray effective June 1, 1999. During the investigation it was determined that 13,035 units of the hairspray were sold into California. Additionally, the product containers did not have a date of manufacture displayed on the container or a date code and consequently were also in violation of Section 94512 (b) Administrative Requirements of the Consumer Products Regulation. Garland Beauty settled the violations on January 22, 2007 for a payment of $5,500.
