Galactic Transporter, Inc. Case Settles for $5,250.00
In January 2014, Galactic Transporter, Inc. agreed to pay $5,250 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,938 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,312 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Galactic Transporter, Inc. a Bay Area tour bus company, failed to self-inspect their heavy-duty diesel vehicles. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Galactic Transporter, Inc. agreed to the $5,250 penalty and to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program, and all other ARB diesel emission regulations.
