Submitted Comment Name William Searle Affiliation Logic & Morality Subject THE Resolution: more effective, sooner results, less work, less public kickback, less expenses Message The cars have done nothing wrong. People are required for cars to operate; so, it is the people who are to blame, & need to change, not the cars. Instead of incentivizing ev, incentivize telecommuting. The effects are vastly more effective, less expensive, & more immediate. We all saw the air improve during the Pandemic. Nothing new needed to be invented, built, dug, mined, or transported. No trial & error, no catastrophic issues from failed attempts. We just stopped driving when it was not necessary. For those who cannot telecommute because they need to physically be there, stagger shifts across all 24 hours of all days (168 hours per week), instead of cramming everyone during the same 40 hours of each week, which fails to utilize 76% of our time every week. If you also incentivize people to work longer shifts, they can work less days, which results in less days commuting, which equals less driving altogether. For example, instead of commuting 5 days per week for 40 hours of work, commute 3 days per week for 40 hours, simply by working 13.3 hours per day, instead of just 8. This reduces fuel use, air pollution, microplastic pollution, brake pollution, tire pollution, vehicle wear, metal wear, road wear & subsequent road repair pollution, as well as funds lost to road repairs, car accidents, & health concerns from stressful commutes. People will also speed less. No need to reinvent the wheel, just use it with care, & conscientiousness. If you made the road test harder, like a pilots license, that would also reduce the number of drivers, while also raising the skill level & safety of drivers & roadways altogether. Finland already has a tougher license program. I have broken my back twice from working hard to build my car-centric life, I will not allow my life’s work to be deemed illegal, especially since doing so does not even solve what you aim to solve. We have a constitutional right to pursue our happiness; so, since gas cars are what make us enthusiasts happy, you cannot take them away while abiding by the constitution.
