CALMOAA Support of E15 & Request for Advisory

To CARB staff,

On behalf of the California Council of Chapters of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), we appreciate the opportunity to submit comments on E15 implementation. Our CA Council represents retired and former officers from across the Armed Forces who continue to serve their communities and advocate for the well-being of California’s veterans and their families.

Transportation costs and reliable access to services remain a central concern for many of the veterans we represent. Rising fuel expenses affect everything from getting to medical appointments to staying engaged in community life. Veterans with chronic illness and other service-related conditions are likely to suffer from poor air quality that has long been a challenge in California.

E15 is a practical step that addresses both challenges. It can lower costs at the pump while cutting harmful emissions that affect health and quality of life. California legislation can often incur more costs than savings, but we supported AB 30 in the legislative process because we saw that drivers could realize real savings without costly upgrades or needing to buy new, expensive vehicles. The last steps are for CARB to help facilitate industry’s ability to begin to offer E15.

We ask CARB to build on this progress by moving quickly with implementation and by releasing clear interim guidance so Californians can begin seeing the benefits of E15 without delay.

Sincerely,

Bill Nelson, Vice President of Legislation
California Council of Chapters
Military Officers Association of America
