Communities for a better environment
Concerns about the community meeting process

Dear California Air Resources Board:
My name is Maria and I live in the San Pedro
neighborhood of Los Angeles. I know that CARB is studying hydrogen use, and I am writing to tell you that I do not want hydrogen in my community. Putting more hydrogen in my neighborhood would perpetuate the impacts of polluting gas infrastructure such as asthma, air pollution, truck and refinery explosions, and flaring.
Everybody deserves to breathe healthy air in their own homes. Blending hydrogen into in the gas system wouldn't just fail to address the pollution from gas appliances, but could even make it worse. CARB should make sure our scarce resources go to the clean electric appliances that will eliminate this pollution instead of the false solution of hydrogen.
Hydrogen is an expensive handout to the gas industry that hurts environmental justice communities, not a climate solution.
Salutations,
Maria
