California Needs Reduce Harmful Vehicle Pollution - Form Letter

Dear California Air Resources Board,

I’m writing to urge you to take strong and swift action to reduce harmful pollution from cars, trucks, and other vehicles across our state. For decades, California has used its authority under the Clean Air Act to set stronger vehicle emission standards than the federal government — a vital tool for protecting public health. With that authority now under threat, it’s more important than ever for the state to find new ways to continue leading on clean air and climate.

Transportation is one of the largest sources of air pollution in California — and it has a serious impact on our health. Communities near highways, ports, and industrial centers continue to bear the greatest burden, with higher rates of asthma, heart problems, and other pollution-related health issues.

We need the California Air Resources Board to set rigorous pollution standards that reduce climate- and health-harming pollution from our transportation sector, take additional actions that result in near term benefits, advance programs that make clean cars and trucks more affordable for all Californians, and invest in infrastructure that make zero-emission options more accessible.

California has long been a leader in protecting public health and cutting pollution. I urge you to continue that leadership and move forward with strong, equitable, and urgent action to ensure cleaner air and a healthier future for all.
