Electric vehicles are by no means the only form of zero-emission transportation. In addition to walking, various human-powered vehicles are widely available, extremely affordable, and offer substantial health benefits to users. In addition, shrinking our supply chains in both length and volume offers great potential for reducing emissions from ICE as well as reducing energy use. ZEVs which are electric vehicles rely on batteries and various electronic controls, all of which require substantial mining, refining and manufacturing. All mining reduces the ecological carrying capacity of the planet, and post-mining restoration never brings back the original rich ecology; too often sites are left barren and contaminated. And it is unlikely that the manufacturing of electric vehicles can be achieve with only the power from PVs and windmills. (No, nuclear power is not a zero-carbon enterprise.) We cannot graft our fossil fuel lifestyles onto PVs, windmills and batteries. Instead of trying to achieve the impossible, everyone will be happier and healthier if we relearn to live in harmony with the natural world that homo sapiens has evolved to inhabit, rather than the stressful, profit-obsessed culture that is increasingly unsustainable. This paper outlines the possibilities and constraints that are involved in redesigning our lifestyles to be planet-friendly rather than just profit-friendly. We evolved to live within a healthy ecology, not in a world of pavement and large amounts of unnecessary external energy use. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/333581837_Is_it_true_that_'Sma…' We need and we deserve a paradigm shift, and so does our abused planet. https://bio-paradigm.blogspot.com/2010/09/mechanical-logic-vs-biologica… California has the opportunity and the ability to far surpass the limited vision of simply electrifying all the engines that are currently used. The idea of depending on PVs, windmills and batteries will not work any longer than will such devices, so we might as well plan for the truly long term. File Upload (i.e., Attachments): N/A N/A
