These workshops play a vital role in bringing together key stakeholders—architects, builders, manufacturers, policy makers, and community members—to collaboratively tackle the carbon emissions associated with building materials and construction processes. Reducing embodied carbon is essential for achieving national climate goals and transitioning to a more sustainable, low-carbon future. Workshops offer an invaluable platform to: Share best practices, data, and innovations in low-carbon materials; Explore policy frameworks and incentives that promote sustainable construction; Build technical capacity and awareness across the building industry; Encourage the adoption of lifecycle analysis (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in project planning. I encourage continued funding, transparency, and stakeholder engagement in these workshops, especially from historically underrepresented communities and small- to mid-sized developers. I also recommend that future sessions include actionable takeaways and pathways for implementation at local, state, and federal levels. Thank you for the opportunity to provide input. I look forward to seeing how these workshops help advance equitable, climate-forward building strategies.
