Reduce Methane from Dairy Operations

Methane emissions from dairy livestock have severe consequences for our air quality, environment, and public health. Methane is one of the strongest greenhouse gases contributing to climate change, and much of California’s dairy industry is concentrated in regions that are already struggling with poor air quality and water contamination.

Methane management is critical for reducing the impacts of climate change, but it’s also essential for protecting the health of communities that suffer from pollution from industrial-scale dairy farms. Regulating methane emissions from dairies would not only help reduce the climate impacts but also provide an opportunity for air and water agencies at the local level to address these linked concerns.

The dairy sector should be held to the same standard as Big Oil companies and landfill industries when it comes to methane emissions. We need a strong commitment to long-term methane solutions that protect both the environment and our health.

Thank you for your attention and for your work to keep California's air safe and clean for all citizens!
