Reduce Methane Emissions from Dairies

Since California’s dairy industry contributes to approximately half of the state’s total methane emissions, CARB has a responsibility to regulate the dairy sector by the same standards it applies to the oil and gas and landfill industries. Additionally, large-scale dairy operations contribute to other forms of pollution that affect air and water quality, which harm regions throughout California. Regulation of methane emissions from dairies would not only help reduce the climate impacts but also provide an opportunity for air and water agencies at the local level to address these linked concerns.

CARB needs to take comprehensive action now to curb methane emissions and protect the health of communities.
