Fonseca Trucking, Inc. Settlement
Fonseca Trucking, Inc. Case Settles for $5,000
In June 2014, Fonseca Trucking, Inc. paid $5,000.00 for violating air quality regulations: $3,750.00 will be paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,250.00 will be paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Fonseca Trucking, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP); and also failed to meet PM BACT requirements for 2000 through 2004 engine model years by January 1, 2013 as required by the Statewide Truck & Bus (STB) Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP and the STB Regulation. To settle the case, Fonseca Trucking, Inc. agreed to the $5,000.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, the STB Regulation, and other ARB programs.
