Five Harvest Co. Inc. Settles For $2,000
In May 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) settled a case with Five Harvest Co. Inc. (Five Harvest Co.), located in Oakland, California. CARB’s audit documented four violations of the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) by Five Harvest Co. for failure to test, measure, record, and maintain records of smoke emissions for heavy-duty diesel vehicles for the years 2019 and 2020.
Five Harvest Co. entered into a Settlement Agreement with CARB and agreed to a penalty of $500 per PSIP violation for a total penalty amount of $2,000. Terms of the settlement also include a requirement for Five Harvest Co. to enroll in the California Council on Diesel Education Technology’s (CCDET) CCDET I Smoke Test Training course, or the CARB Online Smoke Test Training course. Five Harvest Co. must also submit records of PSIP tests for their fleet in 2021 and 2022 and continue PSIP testing and recordkeeping annually thereafter.
Five Harvest Co. was cooperative during the investigation and the fleet is now compliant with the PSIP.
