Excel Site Services, Inc. Case Settles for $14,250
Excel Site Services, Inc. will pay $14,250 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $10,750 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,500 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program. This settlement was reached in November 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Excel Site Services, Inc. failed to bring two of their solid waste collection vehicles into compliance with the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program and the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program. To settle the case, Excel Site Services, Inc. agreed to the $14,250 penalty and to comply with the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program, Periodic Smoke Inspection Program and other ARB programs.
