CARB has verified the ESW CleanTech Longview diesel retrofit system for certain 1993 through 2006 model year heavy-duty diesel engines in on-road vehicles. The Longview system reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter by at least 85 percent and complies with the 2009 limit on emissions of nitrogen dioxide. As such, it is designated as a Level 3 Plus system. The Longview also reduces emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NO_x) by at least 25 percent and is thus designated as a Mark 1 system. The primary components of the Longview include a catalyzed silicon carbide wall-flow filter and a lean NO_x catalyst. The Longview system is compatible with on-road vehicles using diesel fuel that contains up to 20 percent biodiesel. Specific conditions for which the Longview system has been approved may be found in the Executive Orders below.
