CARB has verified the ESW CleanTech Incorporated Horizon Electric Particulate Filter (Horizon) for most four-stroke on-road diesel engines up through and including the 2006 model year. The Horizon system reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter by at least 85 percent and is designated as a Level 3 Plus system. The primary components of the Horizon system include a silicon carbide wall‑flow filter, an electric heater for regeneration, and an electronic control system. The Horizon system is compatible with on-road vehicles using diesel fuel that contains up to 20 percent biodiesel. Specific conditions for which the Horizon has been approved may be found in the Executive Order below.
