Estes Express Settlement
Estes Express Case Settles for $50,600.00
In October 2013, ESTES WEST paid $50,600.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $37,950.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $12, 650.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that ESTES WEST failed to bring their 2012 fleet in compliance with the Truck and Bus Regulation, failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards, failed to report all their drayage trucks into the Drayage Truck Registry (DTR), and failed to disclose regulation applicability on their truck bills of sale. To settle the case, ESTES WEST agreed to the $50,600.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, Truck and Bus Regulation, and the Drayage Truck Regulations.
