$3,500 in Fines Paid by Unified Grocers Portable Fuel Container

On December 10, 2008, Unified Grocers settled a violation of the Portable Fuel Container and Spouts Regulation for $3,500.  Unified Grocers distributes automotive supplies for sale through grocery stores.  From October 2004 to February 2008, Unified Grocers sold or supplied 1- and 2- gallon gas containers manufactured by Blitz to California residents which did not meet all of the Performance Standards for Spill-Proof Systems specified in Title 13, CCR, § 2467.2 et seq.
