Tyson Foods, Inc. Case Settles for $169,500
Tyson Foods, Inc. will pay $169,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations. $84,750.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality and $84,750.00 will go to Tree Fresno, which provides funding for the Fresno Tree Supplemental Environmental Project. Tyson Foods, Inc. signed this settlement on August 27, 2018.
In April 2017, Enforcement Division initiated an investigation of Tyson Foods, Inc. from a referral from the US Environmental Protection Agency. The investigation revealed that 194 fleets hired in 2014 and 2015 for which Tyson conducted insufficient after-the-fact measures to verify compliance with the Truck and Bus regulation, and 96 fleets hired in 2016, for which Tyson conducted timely yet insufficient measures to verify compliance with the Truck and Bus regulation. To settle the case, Tyson Foods, Inc. agreed to the $169,500.00 penalty and will comply with the Truck and Bus regulation, specifically the Truck and Bus verification requirements.
