Southern California Disposal and Recycling Company Case Settles for $6,500.00
In August 2012 Southern California Disposal and Recycling Company agreed to pay $6,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $4,875.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,625.00 will go to Peralta Community College District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Southern California Disposal and Recycling failed to comply with the solid waste collection vehicle rule by neglecting to install legally required emission-reduction devices by applicable compliance dates. ARB documented violations as they related to the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program (SWCV). To settle the case, Southern California Disposal and Recycling Company agreed to the $6,500.00 penalty and to comply with the SWCV program, and other ARB programs.
