South San Francisco Scavenger Company, Inc. Case Settles for $6,500
South San Francisco Scavenger Company, Inc. (SSF) is an integrated solid waste company with operations in South San Francisco. In June 2010, agreed to pay $6,500 in penalties; $4,875 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $1,625 to the Peralta Community College District for violating air quality regulations. An investigation by the ARB showed that SSF failed to comply with the solid waste collection vehicle rule by neglecting to install legally required emission-reduction devices by applicable compliance dates. ARB documented violations as they related to the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program (SWCV). To settle the case SSF agreed to the $6,500 penalty and to comply with the SWCV program in addition to other ARB programs.
